Summary - The Big Picture - Urodynamics

Urodynamic studies provide the most useful information when:
• The patient is well prepared
• The urodynamicist is knowledgeable
• The physical set-up is appropriate

The patient is well prepared for urodynamic studies when they have:
• A phone interview prior to arrival
• An instructional Packet that contains:
 - An Instructional Brochure
 - A Bladder Diary
 - H&P Questionnaire

The knowledgeable urodynamicist:
•Is well versed in anatomy & physiology, urodynamic theory and terminology, and the operation of equipment
•Utilizes the patient’s History Questionnaire
•Utilizes a completed Voiding Diary

The physical set-up is appropriate when:
• Equipment and available supplies are appropriate for testing being done
• Environment is conducive to patient cooperation and comfort
